Ohio Covering Kids & Families Initiative

Grant Overview
The Ohio Covering Kids & Families project is an ongoing effort to enroll and re-enroll eligible children and families in the Healthy Start and Families program (SCHIP). Ohio has expanded coverage to children in families with incomes at or below 200% of the poverty level and to parents in families with incomes at or below 100% of poverty. Through the combined efforts of over 60 coalition partners and 2 pilot projects, the focus will be on outreach, simplifying enrollment and renewal processes and coordination of existing health coverage programs. In addition, a public awareness campaign, sharing of best practices, and training and technical assistance will be part of the statewide and local coalition effort.
