Bridgeport/Stratford

Grant Overview
Bridgeport/Stratford Local Project: The Bridgeport Child Advocacy Coalition (BCAC) HUSKY Outreach Initiative serves Bridgeport and Stratford, Connecticut and is committed to ensuring that all children and their families eligible for HUSKY are enrolled and retain their benefits.

Primary activities of the BCAC HUSKY Outreach Initiative include convening a coalition of representatives of health and social service agencies and HUSKY outreach workers to:
* Ensure that staff has updated information on HUSKY enrollment and renewal policies and procedures.
* Provide a forum for training on HUSKY–related issues. Topics in the past have included immigration and child support as they relate to HUSKY and presumptive eligibility.
* Identify and address barriers to enrollment and renewal for children and their families, including defining strategies to simplify and coordinate the application and eligibility process particularly between HUSKY A and B.
* Provide outreach and education/training to community-based providers on HUSKY-related policies.
* Provide outreach and education/training to parents, particularly to immigrant parents and other hard-to-reach populations.
