An Introduction to the HIPAA Privacy Rule

Covering Kids & Families participants are concerned that recent changes in federal law may interfere with their ability to perform crucial activities related to meeting the goals and strategies of CKF. They are particularly concerned about the Federal Health Privacy Rule (the Privacy Rule), also known as the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). The purpose of this resource guide is to address those concerns. The guide is divided into three parts:

Part I: Overview of the HIPAA Privacy Rule

Part II: Is a CKF Participant a Covered Health Care Provider Under HIPAA

Part III: HIPAA's Potential Impact on Covering Kids & Families Statewide and Local Project Participants.
