Idaho Covering Kids & Families Initiative

Grant Overview
Covering Kids & Families in Idaho (CKFI) achieves its objectives of outreach, enrollment simplification, and coordination of health coverage through a strong partnership between a statewide CKFI Coalition, three community partnership sites covering eleven Idaho counties, three local CKFI Coalitions and the state project director. The state and local efforts are projected to result in an estimated 30,000 additional children receiving health care coverage in Idaho by 2006. The grant strategies include, but are not limited to: 1) Mobilizing statewide networks of health care, education, business and advocacy organizations to conduct outreach; 2) Placing health insurance coverage questions on income-based program applications; 3) Reaching rural families through radio advertisement and distribution of CKFI materials; 4) Studying and addressing barriers of coverage retention; 5) Ensuring the state's web-based coverage application is family-friendly; 6) Establishing a coverage application assistance process at hospitals, clinics and physicians' offices; and 7) Educating Idaho policymakers to the importance of health care coverage for children.
